Instruction sheets
The goal was to create simple, visual instructions for products and services using a single page.
In this real-life example with an Upwork project, the client created a document (3 pages) describing how to attach their bag to two kinds of walkers for senior citizens. The document was wordy, the photography was unclear, and the trial tests highlighted overall customer confusion. On top of that, the instruction sheet needed to be printed within three days!
We storyboarded a simpler layout, isolated specific objects from the photographs, and applied brand color themes throughout the design. One complication, though: there were two styles of walkers, each with a distinct set of instructions. Without force-fitting the instructions and imagery onto a single page (tiny text, tiny photos), we created a two-page, one-sheet document. This resulted in one walker’s instructions being presented on each page (front and back). Mission accomplished!
